I got a better idea, make them so that you can double click on them and get all the pts at once, then you want have to waste any more precious space. Jk, I know that would be even more game breaking than otherwise noted.

Just a thought though what would it be like "if" you could mix drinks(you can in the real world)to make an even more powerful drink....for instance the full whiskey shot glass dropped into the mug of beer and chugged = one seriously messed up drunk person. And then lets say you could mix two drinks all pt values over 5 levels of drunk are absorbed upon consumption, but you get limited to 15pts over per day or something like that.

You know what would happen, everyone would still complain.

updated OP so that people would hopefully understand what I'm saying, instead of making stuff up that is not what I'm saying.

In fact isn't it ironic you can instantly jump up to 6 years ahead or back in time jumping between campaigns, but you have to wait 1 minute between your ales? :-)

If a collector would give us separate aged ales for our kegs then we could stack them a bit more easily, like 250 instead of max 50 drinks per slot and it wouldn't require an extra item type. Perhaps a barkeeper NPC could even swap drink types for us too.
Personally I wouldn't mind if all those drinks were removed from the game altogether, as drinking them is too tedious when you have to count the minutes. Or make them easily drinkable like the sweet beverages.

OT: I think 50-charge Kegs should stack, while 1-49 charge would not.
Good solution.

Or.

Why not be able to "merge" two kegs? So, you've got one keg with 10 uses left, and another with 40, put them together and you've got one full keg. That would allow them to stack.

There's probably something in the coding that keeps these from stacking (maybe they can't make it sort a 49 use keg from a 50 use so they don't stack them at all?) Probably also why they can't stack mods and weapons (ie can't sort a 14^50 from a 15^50 or something)

We understand what you are saying. What we are saying is it CAN'T BE DONE!

Not being able to stack those items is intentional on the part of the game designers. I can understand weapon mods, but consumables should always be able to be stacked together. It just makes sense.

And why? Because it's beyond the scope of expertise by the development team? Because it's certainly not beyond the scope of the code, I guarantee you.

Was that really hard?
Now that you explain that better, I understand how terrible of an idea this is.

All that needs to happen is to turn each individual keg into X items of the same level alcohol, depending on how many uses are left.

/not signed for coding reasons.

I'd rather have our next content update close to on time.

FULL 50/50 kegs should be stackable, lesser ones don't need to be.

It would surely require some coding as it would be a new feature, but it could come as an addition to a much more needed update - making identical Weapon Mods and Inscriptions stackable.

People keep whining about how ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO CODE THIS, but I wonder with what kind of authority they are spewing their opinions.

There are lots of ways to get around this supposed coding problem and stacking it.
The real problem is Anet is focusing on GW2 and they have limited resources that have more than enough to do on GW1 - BUG fixes, Hero AI, Balance updates, XTH, HB, etc etc.

They could even have the 250 kegs stack, and when you use one, it starts counting down, 249 + 49/50, or...
Split the one off that's being used (opened) and keep the 249 together.

so..

/signed (again)

But they won't, so meh (see weapon upgrades / inscriptions for more examples of why they won't... too much work for them)

They can't make items with uses stackable.
It has been asked before with kits.
The answer was 'no can do'.
